Terms of sale

Last updated: 20 April 2026

This page is available in English and Danish.

These terms apply when you, as a consumer, buy from the Gus McEwan Photography shop at gusmcewan.com. They do not limit any rights you have under mandatory consumer law, including the Danish Consumer Contracts Act (forbrugeraftaleloven) and the Danish Sale of Goods Act (købeloven).

1. Who you are buying from

Gus McEwan Photography, Ryesgade 62, 2100 København Ø, Denmark. CVR 34922993, VAT DK34922993. Email: .

2. Products

We sell three kinds of product:

  • Fine-art prints — float-framed canvases and framed prints with a mount, made to order.
  • Posters — typographic gallery posters on archival paper, made to order.
  • Digital downloads — full-resolution image files (JPEG or TIFF) with a licence to use them as described in the Licensing terms.

Prints and posters are produced for each order by our print partner Prodigi and sent directly to you. Colours on screen can differ slightly from the printed result; sizes are stated on each product page.

3. Prices, VAT and delivery costs

Prices are in Danish kroner (DKK) and are shown excluding VAT. VAT is calculated for your country and shown, together with the total price, at checkout before you pay. The EUR, GBP and USD amounts shown next to the prices are approximate conversions for guidance only; you are charged in DKK.

Delivery costs depend on the item and the destination. They are shown, together with the total price, in the delivery step before you pay.

Deliveries outside the EU are charged without Danish VAT. For those orders (for example to the United Kingdom, Norway, the United States, Canada, Australia or Japan) import VAT, customs duty or handling fees may be charged by the authorities or the carrier on delivery. These are not collected by us and are payable by you.

If you buy as a VAT-registered business in another EU country and we validate your VAT number, the sale is made with reverse charge (0% VAT).

4. How an order is made

  • Choose a product and add it to the cart (or use “Buy now”).
  • Accept these terms. For digital downloads you are also asked to agree to immediate delivery (see section 8).
  • For prints and posters, enter the delivery address and choose a delivery option; the delivery cost and the total are then shown.
  • Enter your payment details and press the button marked “Pay” with the total amount. Your order is binding once the payment is confirmed.

You can correct your choices at any time before you press “Pay” by going back to the cart. After payment we send an order confirmation by email with these terms, the order details and the invoice. Your order is kept by us and you can get a copy by contacting us. The contract is concluded in English or Danish, depending on the language you use the shop in.

5. Payment

Payment is processed by Stripe. Accepted methods: Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay. The amount is charged when you place the order. We never see or store your full card details.

6. Delivery

We deliver prints and posters to: Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan.

Each item is made to order. The expected delivery time is shown on the product page (for example “2–4 weeks”) and includes payment processing, production and shipping. Items are usually produced in the EU and may be sent in more than one parcel.

If your delivery is significantly late, contact us. Under the Danish Sale of Goods Act you may be entitled to cancel the purchase and get your money back.

Digital downloads are made available immediately after payment on the order page, and the link and passcode are sent by email. Download links are valid for 30 days; please keep a copy of your files.

7. No returns: made to order

Every print and poster is made specially for you after you order it; nothing is sold from stock. Prints and posters can therefore not be returned or exchanged (forbrugeraftaleloven § 18(2), no. 3). Digital downloads cannot be returned once the files have been made available to you (section 8). You confirm this before you pay, and your order confirmation repeats it. For faulty or damaged items, see section 9.

8. Digital downloads and licence

Before checkout you are asked to tick a box confirming that you (a) expressly request delivery of the files immediately, before the 14-day withdrawal period has ended, and (b) acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. We send you a confirmation of this consent with your order confirmation.

Your use of the files is governed by the Licensing terms shown before purchase and attached to your invoice.

9. Faulty or damaged items (2-year right to complain)

Under the Danish Sale of Goods Act you have a right to complain about defects (reklamationsret) for 2 years from delivery. This applies to prints, posters and digital files. You must complain within a reasonable time after you discover the defect; a complaint within 2 months is always on time.

If an item arrives damaged or faulty, please email us photos of the item and the packaging. We will repair, replace or refund it as the law provides, and we pay the cost of returning a faulty item.

10. Complaints

Please contact us first at — we will try to find a solution with you.

If we cannot agree, you can complain to Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg, www.naevneneshus.dk. If you live in another EU country, you can also contact the European Consumer Centre Denmark (Forbruger Europa), www.forbrugereuropa.dk.

11. Personal data

How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy notice.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of your country of residence.
